Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee: Joint; Resolution of Appointment

A message has been received from the House of Representatives forwarding a resolution agreed to by the House relating to the appointment of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.

The House of Representatives message read as follows—

The House of Representatives acquaints the Senate of the following resolution which has been agreed to by the House of Representatives, and requests the concurrence of the Senate therein:

That paragraph (2) of the resolution of appointment of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade be amended to read:

That the committee consist of 34 members, 13 Members of the House of Representatives to he nominated by the Government Whip or Whips, 9 Members of the House of Representatives to be nominated by the Opposition Whip or Whips or by any independent Member, 5 Senators to be nominated by the Leader of the Government in the Senate, 5 Senators to be nominated by the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and 2 Senators to be nominated by any minority group or groups or independent Senator or independent Senators.
