Earlier in the debate this evening on the Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and Other Legislation Amendment (Further 2008 Budget and Other Measures) Bill 2008, Senator Scullion asked me a question about the number of people who had contacted the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to express concern about the changed arrangements for the partner service pension. Inadvertently I did not provide an accurate answer and I want to correct the record by saying that approximately 120 individuals contacted the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to express concern about the proposed changes to the partner service pension. I wonder if the Opposition Whip could make sure that Senator Scullion is aware of that.
