I make the following statement in response to Senator Siewert’s question and further to Senator Wong’s answer yesterday regarding the government’s consideration of the impact on parents of participation requirements. This information has been provided to me by the Department of the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The Minister for Employment Participation, the Hon. Brendan O’Connor, is reviewing the previous government’s employment policies, including the operation of employment service programs and the impact of participation requirements.
