I have a very short additional response to a question from Senator Cormann yesterday regarding Green Corps and Work for the Dole. I make the following statement in response to Senator Cormann’s question yesterday regarding the continuation of the Green Corps and Work for the Dole programs. This information has been provided to me by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The current contracts for employment services, including Green Corps and Work for the Dole, conclude on 30 June 2009. The Minister for Employment Participation, Brendan O’Connor, is undertaking a review of all employment services programs, including the Work for the Dole and Green Corps programs. Final decisions will be made in the best interests of all Australians, particularly those who need help to enter the workforce.
