I seek leave to make a statement in relation to Senator Fielding’s motion.

I thank Senator Ludwig for the indulgence. Without reflecting on the vote of the Senate which has just taken place, the issue framed by Senator Fielding’s motion which the Australian Labor Party has just used its numbers to stifle is an extraordinary breach of faith with the commitments that were made to the Australian people by Mr Kevin Rudd and by the Australian Labor Party over recent years.
