AMES Australia

Founded in 1951 as a volunteer based organisation teaching English to postwar European migrants, AMES has helped generations of people build new lives in Australia. Over the decades, its work has grown to include vocational skills training, employment services and programs that help people find their feet in a new community. I was proud to attend their 75th anniversary celebrations at the Immigration Museum and reflect on the incredible contribution AMES has made to this country. As a former AMES volunteer, I have experienced personally the difference that it makes in giving people the skills, support and confidence they need to build a future here. I continue to see that work today as the federal member for Holt. Seventy-five years is an incredible milestone, and I want to thank every staffer and every volunteer and supporter who has contributed to this work. Your efforts have changed lives, strengthened families and helped build the diverse, vibrant communities we are so proud to call home. Congratulations, AMES Australia. I look forward to seeing what the next 75 years bring.
