Victoria: Business

Labor is obviously very bad for business. Today we've seen inflation rise. We've seen 17 interest rate hikes and we've had capital gains tax changes and changes to trusts and negative gearing. Sadly, today, Victoria has been ranked the worst state in Australia to do business in for the third year in a row. The Business Council of Australia has ranked Victoria dead last out of every state and territory. Victoria came last for payroll tax, last for property taxes and charges, and near the bottom for business licensing. This means businesses face more costs, more paperwork, more delays and less confidence to invest.
In Victoria, a caff can face 34 separate licences, approvals or processes before serving a single cup of coffee. Victoria has also fallen from fourth to eighth on planning performance. Business leaders say high taxes and excessive regulations are making it harder to create jobs and grow businesses. Small Business Australia estimates that red tape alone is costing between $2 billion and $6 billion—and this is on top of all the federal Labor changes making it exceptionally tough for business. What we need in Victoria is a change of government. Have Jess Wilson as leader and get Victoria back on track.
