Cost of Living

Today is 1 July. The Albanese Labor government is delivering real change for Australians, with cost-of-living measures starting today. Through tax cuts, expanded paid parental leave, and stronger investment in Medicare and hospitals, we're putting more money back into people's pockets and making it easier for families to access the care that they need. For the people in my electorate of Braddon, these changes will make a real difference, helping households manage everyday costs, supporting local jobs and strengthening the essential services our communities rely on. We're backing wage increases, supporting small business, making urgent care clinics permanent and investing more than ever in our public hospitals because this is about building a fairer, stronger future for everyone.
From today, we are protecting Australian families by making it illegal for retailers like Coles and Woolies to price gouge customers by artificially inflating prices on groceries. Unlike those opposite, we will keep working every day to ease the pressure on families in Braddon and right across the country by delivering cost-of-living relief and a more secure and prosperous economy for all Australians, wherever they are—in my electorate of Braddon or right across the country. We will work every day to ensure that we secure that prosperous economy for all Australians.
