Last week I hosted an NDIS reform roundtable with participants, parents and local providers from across my electorate. What I heard was thoughtful, informed and constructive. Participants and providers recognise that the NDIS must be sustainable into the future, but they have deep concerns about the proposed changes. They're worried about the rigid five-year plans and rules that limit reassessment and review of decisions. They warned that registration costs could push small, trusted providers out of the market, leaving participants with fewer choices and options for care. I also heard grave concerns about the cuts to social and community participation—funding that helps get people to work, to medical appointments, to day-care programs and into the community. I want to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to share their lived experience, expertise and insights at this roundtable. Your voices are critical in shaping a system that truly works for the people it was designed to support, and I will continue to advocate for reforms that get this right and build on the principles of choice, control and dignity.
