My question is to the Minister for Climate Change and Energy. I refer to a report in the Daily Telegraph titled 'NSW fuel crisis sparks Minns Government to wargame emergency powers to ration and divert petrol and diesel'. Has the minister been briefed by the New South Wales government or any other state governments or territory governments on fuel rationing?
Chris Bowen (McMahon, Australian Labor Party, Minister for Climate Change and Energy) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
I thank the honourable member for his question. As I indicated in previous answers, there was a meeting of state and territory ministers with me on Friday, literally. And as I indicated on Friday, we compared notes on contingency planning and our respective powers. There is no Watergate here. That is what I announced on Friday. As I indicated to the member for Monash before, there is the National Liquid Fuel Emergency Response Plan, which was agreed by all governments in 2006 and has been endorsed by all governments since then as a gradation of changes.
In this environment, I would also remind all honourable members of the need for factual information when communicating with the public. I would remind the member for Cook, of the need for factual information when communicating with members of the public. I remind the member for Cook that, when he went on social media yesterday and said the Australian government is forcing diesel and petrol to be exported, that is a lie.

You lied last week.

Order! The member for Cook will withdraw that.

I withdraw.
