E-shoplifting through chargeback theft hurts everybody. Consumers have to pay higher prices for the cost of e-shoplifting. Small businesses that are already struggling get punished because of e-shoplifting and chargeback theft. No-one wins except criminals. This is why e-shoplifting through chargeback theft is such a problem. Small businesses around the country are getting smashed. People order products online. They then receive the products and then contact their banks. They say it's been stolen and demand that they get a refund. The money is refunded by the banks, and the small business misses out. Consumers pay more, and the small business gets punished—all for doing what is decent and what is right. We already have 41,000 small businesses that have gone insolvent under the Albanese government and a record number last year, and we're on track to have another record more. Now is the time where we need change to stop e-shoplifting through chargeback theft. But we need Australians' help. We need them not just to not engage in the practice but to stand up and speak out against it.
