On 5 July 2024, the Speaker received advice from the Chief Government Whip nominating Ms Belyea to be a member of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights. In accordance with standing order 229(b), as the House was not expected to sit for several weeks, the appointment became effective on that date.
