I move:

That this bill be now read a second time.

Information from Australian travel documents is an essential part of the identity verification services.

The Identity Verification Services (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2023 will amend the Australian Passports Act 2005to allow for automated disclosures of personal information to a specified person via the document verification service or the face verification service.

This authorises the operation of the document verification service and face verification service in relation to Australian travel documents regulated by the Australian Passports Act.

I commend the bill to the House.

Debate adjourned.
