I rise today to commemorate a significant milestone in one of the small communities in my electorate, the 30th anniversary of the Burrowa House aged-care facility in Boorowa. For three decades, Burrowa House has served the local community, providing quality care and accommodation for elderly citizens. Recently, I had the privilege of joining the community to celebrate this milestone as well their expansion thanks to a $765,000 grant under the former coalition government. Burrowa House can now provide eight additional aged-care places, taking the number of places from 12 to 20. This is a significant stride forward in meeting the growing needs of the ageing population around Boorowa.

Burrowa House is not only a valuable community asset for its elderly residents but also a big employer, driving the local economy with well over 30 permanent and casual staff. Burrowa House is a facility that the whole community can be immensely proud of, especially because much of its funding over the years has stemmed directly from the local community, a testament to their unwavering support and dedication to this remarkable establishment.

I want to congratulate the Burrowa House board members, both past and present, and the community for their leadership, hard work and continued support. We are concerned, however, about the increasing red tape and regulatory burdens facing aged-care facilities like Burrowa House under this government. We want to ensure that seniors, especially in regional communities, continue to receive the very best care in their local area.
