I want to thank the Minister for Housing for the announcement of an extra $2 billion in social housing. This makes $9.5 billion in this financial year. I met with the South Australian Minister for Human Services over the weekend. She told me this means $135 million for housing in South Australia.

Since the election, this government has housed an extra 50,000 Australians, incentivised rental supply through the build-to-rent program and made $575 million available immediately for social and affordable housing. Houses are already being built. The government has provided an extra $67.5 million through the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement to tackle homelessness, expanded the eligibility for the Home Guarantee Scheme, increased Commonwealth rent assistance by 15 per cent and developed a new National Housing Accord to build one million homes by 2024, including 10,000 rental properties.

Meanwhile, what have those opposite and the Greens done? They have delayed the Housing Australia Future Fund, and today delayed it until October. Each day of delay means $1.3 million. In my electorate that's three families missing out on an affordable property. So, while they say they care about affordable housing, Australians should judge them on their actions, not on their words.
