The Easter holidays are fast approaching. As we know Easter, is a time of reflection and celebration for all Christians around the world. In the lead-up to Easter, we observe 40 days of Lent, starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Thursday, the day before Good Friday. Easter Sunday symbolises the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his death by crucifixion.

Many across my electorate, including my family and I, attend mass on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We then celebrate on Sunday with a beautiful lunch with my whole family and close friends. For me and my family, this symbolises the importance of those closest to us and how we always need to be grateful for what we have. This is common for people of all faiths and backgrounds, who look forward to spending the long weekend with family and friends and doing the things they love the most.

I also thank those who give up time with their families to work during these public holidays. You deserve your penalty rates. I would like to wish everyone across my electorate of Holt and across Australia a blessed Easter period, and I hope the Easter Bunny comes and gives you heaps of Easter chocolate!
