I rise to speak about a true champion of local businesses in my electorate of Pearce: the Wanneroo Business Association. A not-for-profit organisation, the WBA has more than 440 members and was founded in 1999, effectively servicing local businesses for two decades. One of the Wanneroo Business Association's biggest and very successful events is its annual business expo, which is being held this month on 30 March at a local venue, the Marina Mindarie. The event is free and welcomes everybody. It's an opportunity to socialise and network and, more importantly, it provides a platform to showcase local businesses to help them grow and reach their customers. The association also hosts its annual business awards night, which it has done since 2003. It's free to enter and allows businesses to benchmark their progress, review their performance year on year and enjoy their successes. I recently met with the Wanneroo Business Association's newly elected president, Steven Windsor, a chartered accountant with almost 20 years of experience. He is passionate about supporting local businesses in the areas of strategy and problem-solving and enabling them to grow. Mr Windsor is also extremely community minded and volunteers his time in a palliative care environment. I encourage all businesses in the electorate of Pearce to participate in this excellent organisation.
