As I drove up to parliament on Tuesday, it was fantastic to see the Greek flag flying high all along the road in celebration of the 201st anniversary of Greek independence. Australia has been blessed by the presence of a vast Greek diaspora. Indeed, Melbourne is home to the largest Greek-speaking population outside of Greece itself. Many of these individuals make their home in my electorate of Chisholm.

Australians of Greek heritage have contributed so much to our nation, bringing energy and enthusiasm to a new life in a new land. This holds true in Chisholm. Since my election to the parliament in 2019, I've had the privilege of working and spending time with so many incredible individuals and organisations from our local Greek community. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the Faros Greek Senior Citizens Club, their founder, Reverend Steven Kasambalas, and their president, Mr Vasilis Pandelidis. Thank you for your contributions. And long live Greece!
