Swan Electorate: Infrastructure, Climate Change

Last year I opened the Roe Highway and Kalamunda Road interchange in my electorate of Swan. In 2019 Ken Wyatt and I joined with Prime Minister Morrison to announce 80 per cent federal funding for this $86 million project. The Morrison government committed $68.8 million to this project. The great separation lowered Roe Highway beneath Kalamunda Road with two new roundabouts and on and off ramps. This gave congestion relief to 74,000 vehicles per day and saves them up to seven minutes travel during peak times. This is just another example of the Morrison government delivering on its commitments and supporting WA through congestion-busting and time-saving infrastructure.
This is in direct contrast to Labor who, last time they were in government, introduced the anti-WA mining tax and carbon tax. They are up to it again. Labor recently announced their Safeguard Mechanism policy which at the current carbon-credit unit rate of $60 per tonne means Labor plan to impose a $4.2 billion tax on WA companies and jobs. This is likely to be an underestimate, as extra demand will push prices higher. WA will account for nearly one-third of emissions captured by this mechanism, even though we are only seven per cent of the population. This is a stark example of Labor being anti-WA. If this is what they announce before the election, imagine what they will do if they win the election. Shame on Labor for being anti-WA!
