As I rise, millions of couples across Australia are celebrating a day dedicated entirely to love. I spoke in my first speech about love, and I said that the work of the parliament is about love. On Valentine's Day, here is my valentine to the people of Perth:

Labor is red

The Liberals are blue

To the people of Perth

Here's my vision for you

Where we live is the best

There's no city like Perth

But we can work together

To make it the best on Earth

I've put together a plan

Some goals to complete

To improve and grow our home

And deliver for this seat

The locals see red

For the web leaves them blue

Their connection too slow

And that just will not do

We'll fix the NBN

Deliver high speed browsing

Whether it's for business or play

We'll connect to your housing

And for those in Morley

We'll deliver the train

Onwards to Ellenbrook

The track will be lain

Now it need not be said

But Perth has a past

It was thought of as dead

And that can not last

My next goal is to make

Perth city world class

How will we do that

Well, I'm glad you asked

Let's develop the old

Power station site

Turn it into something

That's an incredible sight

Then from Kings Park

And down to the Quay

Let's build a light rail

Sounds good to me

Next up is business

Who I vow to back

Let's drive an economy

Where their work shall not lack

Let's encourage innovation

And also skill our people

Because without employees

Our businesses would be feeble

We'll invest in TAFE

Give students a fair go

An education they'll get

With all they need to know

Finally, I'll make sure

We love our local space

With all our parks and river lands

Perth is a magical place

I'll stand up for this space

100 per cent

To hand down to our kids

A clean environment

That's my Plan for Perth

Some big things to do

Because we all love our City

And it's well over due.

So to wrap up this speech

Lastly, I'll say

Let's show some more love
