I'd like to take the opportunity to speak about the Albert Valley Community Festival held last Sunday, where I had the good fortune to meet with a number of local community groups that are the backbone of that part of the electorate of Forde. The communities of Cedar Creek, Luscombe, Wolffdene and Tamborine Village gathered to learn about native flora and fauna, meet local services and enjoy a range of family activities. The kids from Cedar Creek State School did a wonderful job with their choir as well.

I'd like to acknowledge some of the community groups that joined in the festivities and to share the incredible work that they do in our community. Cedar Creek Wolffdene Rural Fire Brigade go above and beyond to help others in times of need and keep our communities safe. I'd like to acknowledge all the volunteers for the time that they give to look after and protect our community and the critical skills they develop through their training to manage often difficult and dangerous situations. The Forde community owes a great debt of gratitude to the Cedar Creek Wolffdene Rural Fire Brigade, and I want to thank them for their commitment and dedication, particularly last year during the flood emergency. I'd also like to thank the local PCYC Emergency Services Cadets and their leaders for the terrific work they do in partnership with PCYC Queensland, encouraging and motivating our younger members to get involved.
