On Saturday, 11 August, I attended celebrations to unveil a 150-year plaque for the Creed family at The Old Station, Raglan. It was also a celebration of the Australian Century Farm and Station Award. It was first settled in 1868. The Creed family were pioneers of the Raglan district and have been longstanding members of the wider community. The same family being there for over 150 years continuously is a major milestone for the area. Considering the impacts of severe droughts and harsh seasonal and economic conditions for rural families over this period of time, it is nothing short of amazing. The Old Station is located in a scenic valley to the north-west of Gladstone. In recent years, the family have found a new income stream. It's now a destination for tourists and guests to visit and stay and experience life on a grazing property. Congratulations to the family, and I thank them for their community contributions. The event on Saturday was very well organised and well attended.
