Once again I am very proud to be part of a government that is delivering for my local community. Something that I think should be above partisan politics but something that really is a scourge on our society is the challenge of mental health issues in young Australians. We know that three-quarters of all mental health issues manifest themselves with people who are under 24. We know that one in five Australians every year will face a mental health issue and we know that one in two Australians will face a mental health issue across the course of their lifetime. After years of advocating, lobbying and knocking down the door of Peter Dutton, who was the shadow health minister and is now the minister, I am really proud to update the House and say that Caboolture will be a site for a headspace facility.

I have had many discussions with my colleague and good friend the member for Petrie, who has a headspace site in Redcliffe, and it has made a big difference in his community and continues to make a big difference for young people there. I hope to see at least that same level of change in my community, because this is something that we have struggled with for a long time. This will be a very significant step in the right direction. It will provide young people with the opportunity to go to a place where they can find out about and acquire the services that they need to cope with whatever mental health challenges they might be facing on a personal level.
