Last week I attended Epping Rotary's 50th anniversary dinner at the Epping Club with over 300 people supporting this black-tie event to congratulate Epping Rotary on 50 years of charitable work in the Bennelong and wider communities. The beneficiary of this fundraiser was The Shack, a great local group who help young people in the region to regain control over their lives through mentoring, crisis intervention, counselling services and guidance to apply for jobs.

Thank you to all of the members of the Epping Rotary Anniversary Organising Committee for hosting a wonderful occasion, deserving of the esteemed Rotary brand. Rotary is famous for implementing programs through the four-way test: is it the truth; is it fair to all concerned; will it build goodwill and better friendships; will it be beneficial to all concerned? I am sure many of us would appreciate it if our government aspired to these same standards.
