Questions without Notice

Mr Speaker, a point of order, just as clarification: previous Speakers have ruled that if an extension of time is not moved before the end of the member’s time then it could not be accepted. Now you have moved in a different direction. I just want to clarify which one is correct.

I actually copped this point of order because I might have conned the member for Sturt last parliament by suggesting that there had to be a motion before the time had expired. Subsequently, I found that I was wrong and I did not hotfoot it in here to inform people. In practice, that is the way that I have ruled on it since that time. It is very nice of him to acknowledge that he may have listened to me once, unfortunately though when I was wrong, but that is okay.
