My question is to the Treasurer. I refer the Treasurer to his statement in the House on 4 June, when he said that Mr John Grant:

…was referred on to the SPV, just like everybody else.

I refer again to the meeting on 23 February, in which Ford Credit was seeking more than half a billion dollars of taxpayer funded assistance. Can the Treasurer confirm that Treasury officials told Ford Credit that Mr Grant was an ‘acquaintance’ of the Prime Minister, whom the Prime Minister knew ‘from his dealings in Queensland’?

I do not know what the Treasury official would have said, but I will not do what those opposite do, which is to make it up.
