Mr Speaker has received advice from the Chief Opposition Whip that he has nominated Ms J Bishop to be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade in place of Mrs Mirabella.

That Mrs Mirabella be discharged from the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade and that, in her place, Ms J. Bishop be appointed a member of the committee.

In speaking very briefly to the motion, I congratulate Ms Bishop, the member for Curtin, on her appointment. It is appropriate that the shadow minister for foreign affairs serve on that committee. She seeks to do so, and the government is pleased to facilitate that appointment.
