Aged-care services in my electorate continue to be in great demand due to our ageing population. I am pleased to inform House that, due to strong advocacy, the level of recurrent funding for residential aged care, home care, short-term restorative care, transition care and the Commonwealth Home Support Program has increased by more than $10 million annually within the Moore electorate over the last three years.

Under the Morrison government, annual funding has increased from $61 million in 2018-19 to $71.5 million in 2020-21. As of 30 June 2021, there were 444 residential aged-care places, 16 short-term restorative care places and 121 transition care places, bringing the total number of places funded in my electorate to 581. However, I am aware that many families in my electorate have family members on waiting lists for aged-care services, so I am focused on ensuring that the level of recurrent aged-care funding continues to increase. Additional funding for operational places and homecare packages will enable more purpose-built aged-care facilities to be developed, such as those currently under construction in Kinross and Currambine and other modern facilities planned at Joondalup, Edgewater and Burns Beach.
