It's a bit rich to open with a quote about liars then omit the rather salient fact that there is a magnetite mine - just like Riley will be, only much bigger - right in the middle of the "so wild" Tarkine. It's called Savage River. And it's been there for well over half a century. Yet Tasmanian devils have somehow not only survived but thrived in its immediate vicinity. Whoda thunk it?
The notion that Riley is a significant threat to devils is thus a ludicrous, entirely politically driven crock. I suspect the Senator knows this in his heart of hearts. But that hasn't stopped him also leaving out the role of these spurious objections and associated lawfare and abuse of processes in causing mine development opportunities to be missed.
